Texas Christian University: The Air Raid Originals

The TCU Horned Frogs boast a proud history that includes a golden era of national dominance and a remarkable modern-day resurgence.

In the 1930s, TCU was a powerhouse that helped revolutionize offensive football.

Coach Dutch Meyer unleashed a revolutionary passing attack on the Southwest Conference, developing an early version of the "spread" offense. He coached two of the greatest quarterbacks of the era who perfectly executed his vision.

"Slingin' Sammy" Baugh led the Frogs to the 1935 national title with his prolific arm. His successor, the brilliant Davey O'Brien, captured the Heisman Trophy while guiding TCU to a perfect season and another national championship in 1938.

After decades of struggle, coach Gary Patterson rebuilt the program in the 2000s, installing a ferocious defense and leading the Horned Frogs to a Rose Bowl victory.

From the pass-happy innovations of the 1930s to their recent success, TCU holds a significant place in college football history. 🏈
