Wallace Wade: The South's First Dynasty Builder

Wallace Wade was the brilliant coach who built national championship programs at both Alabama and Duke, establishing Southern football as a national force. He was a master tactician and a disciplined leader who demanded excellence.

At Alabama in the 1920s, Wade won three national championships. His 1925 team stunned the nation when it defeated Washington in the Rose Bowl, a landmark victory that earned national respect for Southern football. He then moved to Duke and replicated his success, creating another powerhouse.

Wade coached the famous 1938 "Iron Dukes" who finished the regular season unscored upon, and he coached in the only Rose Bowl ever played outside of California, which was moved to Duke's campus after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

As a decorated war veteran and a coaching genius, Wade holds a pivotal place in college football history. 🏈
